Descripción:
The 1470 Multichannel Battery Test System has been specifically designed to
meet the needs of manufacturers and suppliers of batteries. Designed to
provide accurate data at high throughput, the 1470 is ideal for research,
development and quality assurance of new battery materials and technologies.
In particular, it is optimized for multi-channel high speed pulse and impedance
tests on batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cells.
Medidas de Impedancia incluidas
The 1470 includes the ability
to connect to frequency response analyzers for impedance tests on any of the
test channels, through a built-in multiplexer.Impedance (ac testing) is now
widely recognized as giving valuable information regarding the prediction of
the cycle life of secondary (rechargeable) batteries and is also useful for
non-destructive tests on primary cells. The 1470 system not only allows the
impedance of the whole cell to be tested; it can also test individual battery
components including electrodes, separators and electrolytes by the use of
auxiliary voltage inputs. The system is able to integrate impedance testing
(up to 1MHz) over a wide frequency range with standard charge/discharge cycle
testing.

giving a limitless number of test channels. The battery test units are
designed both for bench top operation and also to fit into a standard
19" rack.

constante. The system makes use of
analogue control loops for smooth control of applied signals, (of similar
design to those used in Solartron's research grade potentiostats, e.g.1287).
The maximum applied levels are up to +10V, -3V and at least 4A per channel.
The system is designed with multiple voltage and current ranges allowing resolution
of very low level voltage and current signals; 3 microvolts / 1.5 nanoAmps -
close to the performance of a single channel research grade potentiostat!

Model 1470's high speed data
acquisition uses two 16-bit, 10kHz analogue-to-digital converters per channel
for simultaneous voltage and current sampling. The data is collected by a
digital signal processor (one per battery channel), that allows compression
of data and testing against safety or step termination limits, eliminating
unwanted data, and boosting system throughput. In fact, the limiting factor
of the system is the PC communications link and the PC itself, not in the
battery tester. In this way, as PCs and communications standards such as
Ethernet continue to develop, the system is able to make use of the greater
processing power as it becomes available.
The
1470 can harness the power of impedance analysis via its unique FRA
(Frequency Response Analyzer connection. The schematic in Figure 1 shows an FRA connected into the multiplexer bus of a battery test unit. All the
channels in a 1470 are accessible to this bus. Under the control of
CellTest™, Solartron's PC software, one channel is selected for
connection to the FRA via the Conditioning block (see Figure 1). This block
also provides an attenuation feature, allowing the FRA to apply low level ac
signals to the battery, and reject any dc signal on the output signals back
to the FRA.
One or
more FRAs can be connected into the battery test system. A single FRA can be
made available to all the 1470 channels by connecting together all the FRA
multiplexer buses. If more FRAs are available, then it is preferable to
connect one FRA to each
separate 1470 unit, so that each FRA only serves the
eight channels inside its allocated battery test unit.

Software CellTest
The
1470 Battery Test System is controlled by a host PC running CellTest™ software under the Windows NT or Windows
‘95. The multi-tasking facility of the operating system allows data
acquisition tasks to run in parallel with user interface software, to ensure
that data is collected at the required rate.
The CellTest™ software allows multiple projects to be set up, allowing
each user to have their own project (or projects), with test channels in the
system allocated to particular users. These users can run their own
experiments with their own preferences for screen layout without affecting
other users on the system. All active projects permanently acquire data while
their schedules are running, but only the active project displays the data on
the screen. It is a simple matter to switch between active projects to view
the real-time or historical data displays related to a particular project.
Impedance
testing software is fully integrated into the software. Impedance data can be
acquired from any channel to which an FRA is currently attached. The data can
be presented in Bode or complex plane format within CellTest® or can be
exported to ZView for further analysis and equivalent circuit
fitting.
The
software permanently monitors the status of each schedule which is running
and in the event of power fail attempts to recover from the point in the
schedule where power fail occurred.
CellTest™
will shortly offer a control facility for Eurotherm temperature controllers,
allowing batches of batteries to be cycled while being environmentally tested
(at high or low temperature). This allows automatic evaluation of the
performance of batteries over their rated range of temperatures.

CARACTERISTICAS EXCLUSIVAS DEL 1470A

La primera, y
fundamental es que es el único sistema del mercado que es capaz de realizar
medidas de Impedancia y DC simultáneamente y de forma independiente sobre 8 o
más canales. Para ello dispone de 8 Potenciostatos/Galvanostatos Independientes de 4 electrodos que pueden
trabajar en DC o Impedancia de forma simultánea e independiente (los
distintos experimentos programados pueden tener parámetros y características
totalmente diferentes y pueden comenzar y acabar de forma independiente de
los otros canales).
La duplicidad de
recursos y ahorro de tiempo se hacen obvios, pues permite trabajar de forma
simultánea e independiente a varios investigadores en “proyectos”
totalmente distintos, sobre el mismo sistema

La segunda, es que el
procedimiento de Análisis de Impedancias se efectúa por Síntesis Digital de
una Señal Senoidal pura (requiere FRA externo), lo
que permite una resolución en frecuencias que no pueden alcanzar otros equipos
basados en análisis mediante FFT (banda ancha). Esta tecnología, llamada DFT
(Discrete Fourier Transform = Transformada de Fourier
discreta), exclusiva de SOLARTRON, permite precisamente un margen dinámico de
medida tan amplio como el de este sistema, con la eliminación de los
armónicos no deseados, y con la precisión que sólo permiten las medidas
punto-a-punto.
Para poder efectuar
las medidas simultáneas e independientes así como el post-procesado de los
resultados y obtener el máximo rendimiento al equipo es necesario el software
CellTest incluido que permite un acceso a todos los
parámetros de medida así como los resultados en tiempo real.
